Classic Margherita Pizza

This Margherita Pizza begins with my homemade pizza dough.
Top with fresh mozzarella cheese, simple fresh homemade tomato sauce made from fresh tomatoes and then finish it off with garden-fresh basil. This is an easy pizza recipe with unbeatable flavor!

Ingredients for pizza dough:

  •  4 cups of all purpose flour
  • 1 cup of water
  • 1/4 cup of extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 tsp of granulated sugar
  • 1tsp of salt
  • 7 grams of active dry yeast

Ingredients for pizza toppings:
  • 125 grams mozzarella cheese
  • 50 grams parmigiano cheese
  • 2 tomatoes, medium size
  • 2 gloves of garlic
  • 1 cup of tomato puree
  • few fresh basil leaves
  • 1 tsp of sugar
  • 1 tsp of salt

Preparation:
  1. To make the dough add yeast and sugar to warm water and set it aside for about 3 minutes. Then to the mixture add olive oil, salt and gradually start adding the flour.
  2. Mix until everything is combined, then oil the bowl with some oil and place the dough into the bowl. Cover the bowl with some plastic wrap and place it into a warm place (microwave or an oven turned off). Leave until it double a size.
  3. To make pizza sauce simply mix together cut up tomato cubes with minced garlic, sugar, salt, few basil leaves and tomato pure. Lightly heat the mixture to crush the tomatoes and make the sauce.
  4. When the dough is double in size, sprinkle some flour onto your counter and using your hands or a rolling pin roll the dough out to a circle. Place it on a baking sheet.
  5. Add your tomato sauce , parmiginao cheese and sliced mozzarella.
  6. Pop it into the preheated oven. For the best margherita pizza, you will want to preheat your oven to the highest temperature possible.
  7. Bake for about 10 minutes or until edges are golden brown. Garnish with few fresh basil leaves.
